How To Cook Bacon In The Oven

Cooked Bacon in the Oven is legit. It’s the easiest way to cook it, from my experience, and doesn’t take up any stove space. There is no ridiculous clean-up whatsoever (which is so nice)!

I love saving the bacon grease post-cook for making famous refried beans with manteca, later. That’s a mega bonus flavor drip-drip that comes with making perfectly cooked bacon.

Why You Should Try This Recipe

Because stove or kitchen counter oven appliance both work beautifully for easy bacon without feeling all greasy!

It’s important to get familiar with using our appliances for a range of uses instead of the obvious like simple toast/bagels/pre-cooked hash brown, and tv dinner.

Even though these techniques seem basic and some may even label that lazy, they’re also essential and modern methods of food prep that are helpful.

Maximizing your time and monies spent to make delicious foods for yourself is important to us here at LQC Recipe Blog.

Let’s make the Bacon together, and then the manteca frijolitos!

Ingredients

Grocery Quick List: bacon, and optional seasoning.

Ingredient Notes / Variations

  • Bacon – salty, meaty, for that good-good bite. Tocino is what we use, applewood, peppered,
    • For sticking to recipe ingredient – organic nitrate free bacon, regular cut. Doesn’t need to be extra thin unless that’s how you prefer it (which will reduce cook time, too).
    • Only the best for home cooked bacon for you.

Note from Erika: Turkey Bacon is pretty easy and not a fussy item to cook on the stove, so I prefer to cook it there rather than in the oven. Besides, I’m not reserving the turkey drip.

Step-By-Step Instructions

To Make Crispy Bacon in the Oven

Pre-heat the oven while you prep the baking rack before adding strips of bacon.

  1. Lay uncooked bacon strips side by side, they can touch, it’s ok!
  2. Once oven pre-heat is complete, place tray in oven, and set timer for 20 minutes. Timers are a must!
  3. No flipping of bacon is necessary. Once 20-minutes have passed, check on the bacon.
  4. Safely remove tray from oven and flip the bacon strips over onto a plate to cool.

A printer-friendly recipe card with instructions is available at the bottom of this post.

The material of choice for this is aluminum foil. It’s easier than parchment and preferred for easiest collection of rendered bacon fat and cleanup.

Warning: Never leave either appliance on while unsupervised.

Ways To Spice or Sweeten Up Bacon

For bacon with brown sugar – gently sprinkle top-side of bacon strips before laying on rack. The bacon oil can still be used even with brown sugar drippings.

Think of baked beans! There’s always something we can make, and we’re here to help with ideas.

For additional flavors, any of the pantry favorite seasonings will work, but please be gentle on the sprinkle because bacon is already salty and I care for you.
